Gorgeous colours Ruth, can we see the cats next time please? ;)Elx
LOl. I think there is a couple on my HE blog of the cats on the quilts. They sit on them while I am sewing and just move along as I get to them( I sew and quilt by hand)
wow by hand and yet so straight and neat , lovely :-) what do you put in the middle to make them quilted and does that go in at the end or as you go along? I'm intrigued xx
It's really easy. I sew the pieces together first then put batting in the middle and a backing on the back like a sandwich ( in this case and the Christmas one I used fleece as the backing cos its cold but you can use any cotton or flannel) and then I baste them together then quilt it all. When its quilted I square it up and bind the edges with a fabric strip or bias binding of my choice.
Thank you Ruth I'll give it a go over christmas :) xx
You'll have to post a pic of the one you do Dawny. I don't know why but I just can't get to grips with sewing. When I've knitted something I'm not very good at sewing it up! Is the quilt for a person or the cats?!! Eden crocheted a bag to carry her dog round when she was a puppy, the children are always making things for the animals!
The quilt is for ds to put over his legs in the back room when the fire isn't lit as it gets cold in there. The cats think it's for them tho ;)I'm about to cut out a quilt for both of them for their beds - one on big cats and on astronomy but doubt I will get either done before Christmas now. I can't knit to save my life Bridget so each to his own.
Lovely to hear from you :)
